A major fire broke out at a sports shop with residential flats above in Forest Hill, south-east London, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
According to the London Fire Brigade (LFB), around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines were deployed to the scene on Perry Vale after the blaze erupted at a building housing Finches Emporium, a well-known skiing and snowboarding store.
Firefighters battled the intense blaze for over three hours before bringing it under control. The fire affected both the ground floor retail space and a workshop at the rear of the store, with flames and thick smoke visible from a distance.
Images shared by LFB on social media showed crews in action outside the store, while eyewitness videos captured the dramatic scene of flames and billowing smoke pouring from the structure.
The cause of the Forest Hill fire is not yet known, and investigations are underway. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported at this time.
The LFB continues to monitor the site to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and to assess the structural damage caused by the incident.
