Londoners should prepare for a noticeable change in weather as temperatures are set to drop significantly by next Friday, October 24, according to the latest BBC Weather forecast.

Currently, the capital is enjoying mild autumn weather, with temperatures around 16°C on Friday, October 17. However, a sharp dip is expected in just a week’s time, with the mercury forecast to fall to just 13°C on Friday, October 24 — marking a significant decline in daily highs.

Sunny Days Before the Chill Sets In

Before the colder weather arrives, London will see some sunshine, with sunny spells expected on Tuesday, October 15, Wednesday, October 16, and Thursday, October 17, giving residents a brief taste of autumn sunshine.

Met Office Forecast Backs BBC’s Prediction

While the Met Office’s short-range forecast doesn’t extend all the way to October 24, it does support the outlook of falling temperatures. Thursday, October 23, is expected to reach a high of only 14°C, indicating a continued downward trend.

Foggy Conditions Possible in Early November

Looking further ahead, the Met Office’s long-range forecast hints at the possibility of foggy conditions in London and southern England during early to mid-November. The forecast notes:

“There are just hints that a drier interlude may unfurl across more southern areas towards mid-month, which could increase the incidence of overnight fog.”

Temperature Drop Expected Beyond London

It’s not just London that will experience the colder weather. Surrounding counties including Kent, Essex, and Surrey are also forecast to see a significant temperature drop. A similar pattern is expected in Birmingham and Liverpool, highlighting a broader shift to cooler autumn conditions across the UK.
